Blokes in a Horse Box!

UK Border Agency officers have thwarted an attempt by two Iranians to enter the UK illegally, hidden in the back of a horse box, reports the Telegraph. The German registered van towing the horse box was stopped at midnight on 30 July 2009 before it could board a ferry to the UK.

On opening the side door of the trailer, which was not locked, the officers found two motorbikes, luggage and two Iranian stowaways. The men were removed from the vehicle, fingerprinted, photographed, refused entry to the UK and handed over to the French authorities.

The vehicle was allowed to continue its journey to Dover once the men had been removed. The driver may now face a civil penalty of up to £2000 per illegal person.
